Jasper Carrott would be proud of recent research revealing numerous unusual claims for mobile phones which unsurprisingly show that phones are not compatible with water, hard surfaces, heat and animals. The claims include;

Once again our screens have been dominated by events in America in the last month with blanket coverage of both the Presidential election and Hurricane Sandy.

Any hurricane hitting America is always big news over here, but adding that it hit New York and coincided with the run up to the election into the mix guaranteed that the media went into overdrive.

Private motor insurance is once again in the headlines following the Office of Fair Trading's decision to refer the market to the Competition Commission as in their words, 'there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that there are features of the market that prevent, restrict or distort competition.' The OFT have already studied the market, particularly the practice of charging 'at fault' drivers with the cost of repairing a 'not at fault' drivers car and car hire during the period of repair. The insurer of the 'at fault' driver has little control of the costs (even though they have to pay them) and the OFT says that this enables the insurer of the 'not at fault' driver and others in the chain (including repairers, credit hire companies and brokers) to engage in practices which appear to result in the cost being higher than they might otherwise be.

After British success at the Olympics, Tour de France and US Tennis Open there seemed a hollow ring and lack of the usual eager anticipation for the start of the football season. And true to form, Football found it impossible to follow the standards set by the Olympians with many of our premier league players and managers confirming their Prima Dona status during the first few weeks of the season.
